Superman on Screen -- as of 1988

Another treasure from Amazing Heroes, this time from its February 29, 1988 Superman celebration issue.

Look!  Up on the screen!  It's my second-favorite hero!

See ya Monday, Super-Campers!

I'm Also a Stooge!

... besides being a Marxist, that is.

This article is from the May 1984 issue of Video magazine.  After admiring Drew Friedman's beautiful pointillistic portrait, read the article ... and don't forget to drool over the hi-tech products available in the display ads!

A Smattering of Ads from April 1981

These ads are a slice of mercantile life from the April 27, 1981 issue of Newsweek.

To celebrate the US Space Shuttle Columbia's maiden flight on April 12, NASA contractor Rockwell International ran the following three-page spread:

An interesting tidbit is the fact that the last two pages of this spread ran on the Time of the same date, where these two silver pages were the center spread for Time.  In Newsweek, the three pages were not the center spread.

See you on Monday with more pop-culture scrapings, campers!

Superboy TV, Part 3

PART ONE

PART TWO

Here's more of the Superboy Season Two publicity folder.

You'll recall it was a big folder of glossy card stock shown above.  Following are the "Bios & Press Releases" material.

Have fun digesting the exciting info, courtesy of the late, lamented, gentle giant Mark Barragar.

Friends Are Forever, but Banks Aren't

According to a website called US Bank Locations, Friendly National Bank was established in 1964.  In 1994 it was absorbed into Bank One.

I still have a zippered bag from them, it's often used as part of the financial equipment of SoonerCon.

Inside a paperback I found one of their change orders.  BTW, the jingle from one of their TV commercials ran, "Friends are forever, at Friendly national Bank!"

See you on Monday!

It's a Mystery of Steel!

Here's some rabidly stocked speculation about the afterlife of the recently deceased Superman, from the June 1993 issue of Comics Scene.

If I remember rightly, it turned out that the real Superman's spirit had transmogrified into Captain Carrot?  Correct me if I'm wrong.
